Hyperhidrosis Treatment (Excessive Sweating)
What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, is a condition that can occur in up to 1% of the population where the person excretes unusual amounts of sweat unpredictably, even at rest or when the temperature isn't particularly warm.
Hyperhidrosis can be very embarrassing for those affected and can also seriously affect social, professional and intimate relationships as well as the self confidence of the people affected.
Botulinum protein is recommended for the treatment of excessive sweating affecting the armpits when other treatments have not worked. When small doses of botulinum protein are injected into the skin it prevents the glands from producing sweat. The effects of hyperhidrosis treatment through this procedure lasts for at least 6 to 9 months.
The procedure takes around 15 minutes to complete. A simple and harmless test allows areas that produce excessive sweating to be identified precisely and targeted with botulinum protein.
There may be some discomfort or bruising lasting for a just few days after undertaking hyperhidrosis treatment. The reduced sweating is first noticeable after 2 days and the maximum benefit after injection occurs after approximately 2 weeks.
