Stretch marks
Stretch marks happen when the skin is pulled by rapid growth or stretching. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it is overstretched, the normal production of collagen is disrupted. As a result, scars called stretch marks may form.
Stretch Marks can appear anywhere on the body for many reasons where the skin has been stretched, and they often occur as a result of weight gain or pregnancy. They are most likely to appear in places where fat is stored, including the abdomen, breasts, upper arms, thighs and buttocks.
They first appear as red or purple superficial scars that over time become white.
