iPixel Laser is a new generation of fractional skin resurfacing. This effective treatment can be used to improve skin texture, tone, pore size and reduces the appearance of pigmentation and scarring.
Compared to older skin resurfacing laser technologies, the iPixel laser is a new generation of non-ablative fractional lasers that give excellent results with little downtime.
How does the iPixel work?
The iPixel direct short intense burst of laser energy to the outer layer of the skin. This heats water within the surface layers causing the skin and water to turn to vapour. Hence, tiny areas (‘pixels’) of the outer layers of the skin I removed precisely. The surrounding skin remains intact. The body then stimulates healing which results in the production of new collagen and elastin and new healthy smoother skin tissue.
The iPixel laser is very precise and hence there are very few side-effects compared to other ablative lasers.
What can the i-Pixel treat?
The iPixel laser can be used to treat the skin on the face, neck, décolletage, hands and body. It can be used to treat:
- Ageing skin
- Lines & wrinkles
- Sun-damaged skin
- Enlarged pores
- Acne scarring
- Facial scarring
- Uneven skin tone
- Rough skin texture
- Stretch marks
Each treatment usually takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
How many treatment sessions are needed?
We recommend a course of 3-5 treatments at 4 weekly intervals.
Does the treatment hurt?
The treatment is well tolerated and there is little or no discomfort and is virtually pain-free. Afterwards the skin can feel war like sunburn.
Is the treatment suitable for all skin types?
The i-Pixel laser treatment is suitable for all skin types except darker skin tones such as African black skin.
Are there any side-effects?
There are few if any side-effects and there is little or no downtime.
There is some redness and swelling of the skin afterwards and this could last for up to 2 -3 days after treatment. However, this can be significantly reduced and healing enhanced by having Dermalux LED Light Therapy immediately after the laser treatment.
There will be some tiny dots on the skin and there may also be some mild peeling and flaking for up to 7 days after treatment.
What is the after-care?
It is essential to use SPF 50 daily following treatment. We will also recommend an after-treatment routine so that you heal quickly. It is also important to avoid excess heat and sun exposure after treatment.
How long do the results last?
Your skin will look better a few days after treatment. Results will gradually improve after successive treatments and for up to 3 months after the last treatment.
Ageing process and lifestyle affect the long-term results and therefore results vary from person to person.
For optimal results, we recommend a top-up maintenance session every 6-12 months.
