Thread lifting is a very popular treatment which can be used to lift the face and neck without the need for surgery. Excessive volume is not good but sometimes a subtle, non-surgical lift can help to redefine the face and neck. It is highly effective at lifting jowls, sagging skin and treating lines and wrinkles.
This is a minimally invasive procedure with very little downtime. Results can last for up to 18 months. So, it is no wonder that we have many patients who opt for this treatment from throughout Surrey and Hampshire.
Which type of threads are used?
Silhouette Soft thread lifts were developed six years ago. They are the latest generation thread-lifting procedure, which use fully absorbable threads over a period of 9-12 months (made of polylactic and glycolic acids), with no need for cuts or stitches.
Thread lifting can also be done by using PDO (polydioxanone) threads. Polydioxanone is fully bio-compatible and is dissolved by the body over a period of 6 – 12 months. PDO threads have been used safely in surgery, to close wounds, for over 15 years. The threads are placed under the skin without cuts or stitches.
How does thread lifting work?
The threads create a lifting effect which is visible straight away. They stimulate the fibroblast cells to produce collagen which helps to rejuvenate and brighten the skin.
Silhouette Soft threads have cones which point in different directions so no anchor points are needed – both threads and cones dissolve over a period of 6 – 12 months.
PDO threads used in aesthetics are specially cut (cog threads) so that they gently, but firmly, tether under the skin and grip it, to pull and lift. There are also fine threads used to stimulate collagen production. PDO threads are dissolved by the body over a period of 6 – 12 months.
What does thread lifting treat?
Known as a ‘non-surgical facelift’, both Silhouette Soft and PDO Threads can be used to lift saggy areas of skin. PDO Threads can also be used to stimulate collagen growth in order to diminish lines and wrinkles.
Which areas can thread lifting treat?
Areas that can be treated with Silhouette Soft and PDO Threads include:
Fine PDO threads are also used to create a ‘scaffold’ in order to stimulate collagen growth. These threads can be used to treat:
- Crepey skin on the cheeks
- Crow’s feet
- Lip lines
- Crepey Neck
How many threads will I need?
With regards to Silhouette Soft threads most patients need 2 threads per side. Sometimes an additional thread is needed on each side.
With regards to PDO threads, numerous threads are needed on both sides.
Can anyone have this treatment?
Both men and women can have this treatment. Patients with thin or very loose skin will probably see fewer results and hence it is better to consider Ultherapy.
How long will results last?
Results generally last for 18 months.
What are the results of a non-surgical thread lift?
Thread lifting is an amazing treatment which creates impressive results:
- Immediate but natural looking lift.
- A gradual improvement for sagging skin, deep creases, lines and wrinkles.
- Further improvement in the skin’s brightness, elasticity, tautness and tightness over the following 3 – 6 months, due to new collagen production.
- Fully absorbable threads.
- The results last for 18 months.
- The procedure takes about 45 minutes.
- No cuts are made and there are no stitches.
- There is little downtime and very little discomfort during the procedure.
Can I have other treatments?
Silhouette Soft threads and PDO threads can be used either on their own or in combination with Ultherapy, Botox, dermal fillers and radio-frequency treatments.
