As Femilift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure, there are very few side effects.
There’s also very little downtime. You’ll have to wait three days before you have sex or use tampons, but other than that you can resume your usual activities straight away.
Below we take a look at some of the side effects and who the procedure isn’t suitable for, and share some advice on aftercare.
Some women report developing a fever after having the procedure but this is very rare. This could happen because the procedure causes an inflammatory response in the body, as it uses heat to stimulate collagen growth. If you’re particularly sensitive to heat, the heat used during the procedure could give you fever-like symptoms.
If you feel feverish after having a Femilift procedure, speak to your practitioner.
Most women don’t experience any pain or cramping after having Femilift. However, some soreness or irritation for a few days after the treatment is completely normal and is usually very mild. Some women describe it as being similar to the irritation or soreness that occurs with a yeast infection.
If you experience cramping after the procedure, it’s likely to feel like mild period pain and should only last a day or two.
You may experience some blood-stained watery discharge after having the treatment. This is completely normal and should clear up within two to three days. Bleeding can occur because Femilift uses heat to cause minor injuries to the vagina wall—this stimulates the growth of collagen and blood vessels to create a healthier vaginal canal.
If you experience any heavy bleeding—especially if it’s painful—speak to your practitioner.
Watery discharge is one of the most common side effects of Femilift. This should only last for around three days.
If you experience heavy discharge—particularly if it contains a lot of blood, or lasts for longer than three or four days—speak to your practitioner.
Before you have the procedure, Dr Rekha Tailor will take your full medical history to establish whether Femilift is an appropriate treatment for you.
