What is baby Botox?

This treatment is a very similar procedure to having standard Botox, except much smaller doses of the substance are used. Patients choose to have this treatment when they want to achieve a subtle change in their appearance by softening the lines on their face.

The injections are given in the same areas of the face as regular Botox treatment. The results will wear off more quickly, lasting for around two months. Baby Botox is often the chosen treatment of patients who are trying Botox for the first time. Also, those who want subtle results that don’t last too long, for example they may want to look refreshed for a special occasion.

It was originally developed in Hollywood as directors complained that Botox was causing actresses to struggle to make normal facial expressions in front of the camera. After that, this treatment gave actresses the freedom to have Botox in between filming. It wears off more quickly than regular Botox.

What are the side effects of the treatment?

Side effects of any Botox treatment are extremely rare. With this, the most common side effects are tenderness at the injection sites and very mild swelling. These are short term effects that will usually subside within a couple of days of having the treatment.

Any medication has risks but complications from Botox treatments are extremely rare, making it a safe treatment to have. Although the substance itself is safe, the results of your treatment and the extent of any side effects will depend largely on the experience and expertise of the practitioner you choose. We have put together a guide that will help you choose a trusted practitioner to ensure you receive the best results possible from your treatment.

What’s the difference between Botox and baby Botox?

Baby Botox uses the same formula as regular Botox and practitioners inject into the same areas of the face. The key difference is that baby Botox treatment uses smaller amounts of the substance, resulting in a very natural look. The results are very similar to regular doses of Botox but the muscles have a wider range of movement.

Botox is very effective, long lasting and we can achieve very natural results without the frozen look. Baby Botox is perfect for those patients who want to be more natural, or those who just don’t want it to last too long.

Which areas of the face?

At health + aesthetics we use baby Botox for the following areas of the upper face:

  • Frown lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet

Are there any special techniques?

Again, the technique we use to administer this treatment is the same as regular Botox. Baby Botox treatments involve tiny doses of Botox which we inject into the usual areas. The results are still very similar to normal doses ones, but more movement is present and it does wear off more quickly.

As with regular Botox, at health + aesthetics we don’t inject the forehead without injecting the frown lines (the lines in between the brows), since there is a risk of brow droop. We do inject frown lines and crow’s feet on their own though.

Where should I go for baby Botox?

Take the time to look for a reputable clinic. Don’t be tempted to pay less and allow someone who lacks experience and training to administer this procedure. Botox is a prescription-only medicine and only a properly trained and experienced clinician such as a doctor or nurse prescriber should inject it.

Baby Botox Quick Facts

  • We administer baby Botox anywhere where regular Botox is used. Common areas include the frown lines, forehead lines and cows feet.
  • The results of baby Botox last approximately two months but this will vary from patient to patient. After this time, patients may choose to have further treatments. With regular Botox treatment, results last for around three months.
  • At health + aesthetics, Dr Rekha will discuss the cost of having baby Botox during a consultation.
  • The units of Botox injected (even with regular Botox) depends upon how strong the muscles are. As a general rule for frown lines we use 20u of Botox for regular injections. You can expect to receive around 10u of Baby Botox.
