Red skin or rosacea may be a very common skin condition, but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer in silence.

Looking at your reflection in the mirror and seeing red, sore and uneven skin can be extremely distressing and really knock your self-confidence.  However, with a little time and persistence there is a lot that can be done to improve the condition.

So what is Rosacea?

Rosacea typically begins as redness on the central area of the face, across the cheeks, nose or forehead, but it can also affect the neck, chest, ears, scalp and eyes. It can often get progressively worse over time and flare ups can be triggered by many different factors, including: exercise, exposure to the sun or wind, alcohol, caffeine, stress, sweet or spicy food and even moisturisers.  Basically anything that increases blood flow to the surface of the skin.

A life cutting out all of the above would be nigh on impossible, but there is a lot that can be done to improve the condition.

Treating Red Skin

Mild rosacea is often treated using oral or topical antibiotics.  However, people can build up resistance to antibiotics over time and/or suffer from adverse side effects.

Instead many people are turning to skincare treatments which offer long term improvements to the appearance of the skin and relief of the symptoms.

Here at Health & Aesthetics we offer a number of treatments proven to be highly effective in treating red skin or rosacea, particularly when used in combination. These include targeted laser treatment, facial peels, Dermalux LED light therapy and our range of advanced medical skincare, from ZO Cosmeceuticals.

About laser treatment

Laser energy targets the dilated blood vessels, causing them to collapse and eventually disappear so they are no longer visible.  The treatment is quick, safe and only slightly uncomfortable.  Side effects are usually mild (including redness and slight swelling), which will disappear after a couple of days.

You should notice some improvement after just one treatment. However, dependent on the severity of your condition, we normally recommend a course of six 30-minute treatments to achieve the desired results.

About skin peels

Dermal or chemical peels rejuvenate the appearance of the skin by stripping away the dead skin cells on the outer layers.  The peels also encourage regeneration and repair and improves the skin’s overall health and appearance.  This leads to an improvement in many skin conditions, including rosacea.

About Dermalux LED Light Therapy

Dermalux LED (Light Emitting Diodes) Light Therapy is a highly effective, non-invasive treatment for many different skin conditions, including rosacea.

It uses light energy to rejuvenate and repair the skin safely with no irritation and no downtime. It can be used either alone or in combination with other treatments, such as laser therapy.
Fast, safe and pain free, it produces great results for our patients.
