The cause of rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin condition that mainly affects fair-skinned people. It has been around a long time and in the past people referred to it as ‘The Curse of Celts’.The skin condition typically begins as redness on the central area of the face, across the cheeks, nose or forehead. Less commonly it can affect the neck, chest, ears, scalp and eyes. Rosacea often gets progressively worse with time. What happens is that enlarged blood vessels in the skin cause the redness and give the area a flushed appearance. This can cause breakouts, visible blood vessels and skin thickening.
Celebrities with rosacea
Although there is no cure for rosacea, there is a lot you can do to improve it. Even many famous faces, with flawless complexions we admire, have had their struggles with this condition. For example, Cynthia Nixon, beautiful star of “Sex in the City” suffered with red, inflamed skin for many years. Now, she takes oral medication and uses skin care creams to treat the condition and prevent it getting worse. Another thing which has helped Nixon with her condition was learning about triggers. The factors which can aggravate or worsen the condition by increasing blood flow to the surface of the skin. These can include exercise, alcohol, sun exposure and spicy foods. Today Cynthia helps to educate people about rosacea. She is a celebrity spokesperson for the National Rosacea Society and has recorded public service announcements to raise awareness of the condition.
Another well-known sufferer was J.P. Morgan, the American financier, banker, philanthropist and art collector. He dominated corporate finance and industrial consolidation in the early 1900s and people still admire him for his influence on our banking industry.
