What is FELC Plasma Technology?

FELC is a non-surgical treatment which uses the fourth state of matter: Plasma

This treatment delivers outstanding results, without the use of surgery, which can be a beneficial factor to many. Using a plasma beam, FELC removes excess skin, skin lesions and reduces lines and wrinkles by tissue sublimation. This treatment is mainly used for skin tightening, most commonly around the eyes and around the mouth.

How Does FELC Treatment Work?

FELC causes sublimation, the process of turning a solid into a gas. Due to this, no heat is transferred to the surrounding tissues, avoiding damage to the skin. As FELC uses plasma, there is no electric current. Tissue retraction and tightening are instantly visible results of this treatment.

What Areas Does the Procedure Treat?

FELC can be used for a number of treatments. It is commonly used to treat the skin around the eyes.

FELC removes excess skin, skin lesions and reduces lines and wrinkles by tissue sublimation. It can be used for the following:

  • Non-surgical blepharoplasty
  • Brow lift
  • Scarring including stretch marks, acne scars and post-surgical scars
  • Naval lifting
  • Face and body lifting
  • Pigmentation and sun spots
  • Acne treatment
  • Skin lesions such as fibromas, moles, verruca, warts, keloids and xanthelasmas,
  • Treatment of dilated periumbilical striae
  • Tattoo removal of any colours.

What to Expect Before and After the Treatment

30 minutes before a non-surgical blepharoplasty, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to minimise any discomfort for the patient. In other areas, a local anaesthetic cream or injection is used to provide numbness to the area. As the treatment may warm, you can experience a tingling sensation afterwards.

After the treatment, tiny black spots appear in the areas where individual shots were fired, or there may be a larger burn where an area has been sprayed with plasma. FELC is highly more advanced compared to Plexr, as the black spots flake off over the following days and the burns will heal within a similar period (up to 2 weeks).

Swelling is common after the treatment, especially around the eyes. The burning sensation you experience after the treatment will settle 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.

Results of the Treatment

Skin folds and creases will appear immediately better, and the area treated will continue to improve up to 3 months after the FELC treatment. Final results depend upon the patient’s general skin condition, severity of skin laxity, size of the lesion, any pre-existing skin or medical problems and the desired result.

As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or even permanently for some.
