Let’s face it, most people have heard of CoolSculpting or at the very least, Fat Freezing. It has been widely touted as the best way to shift stubborn fat. Frequently featured on shows such as Keeping Up with The Kardashians, Deborah Messing, Ian Poulter, Kristin Davis and the pretty much ever Real Housewife, this is a celebrity backed treatment which has a lot to live up to.

The question is, how does it work and does CoolSculpting Work?

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a brand of cryolipolysis fat freezing device. It freezes the fat to reduce areas by up to 25% and can be used on most parts of the body including stomach, back, chin, knees, thighs and love handles.

How does fat freezing work?

Fat freezing works by reducing the cell temperature to below 4 degrees Celsius. By doing this, you trigger fat cell death. The death of the fat cell means that it is excreted by the body through the lymphatic system.

Can I destroy the fat cells any other ways?

The common confusion with fat freezing is the difference between losing weight through diet and weight loss vs destroying the fat cells thought fat freezing. When we have more calories than we need, our body stores this as energy in the form of fat. Our fat cells slowly grow and then once they achieve max growth , they multiply. When we lose weight, these cells deflate, but are not destroyed. This is often why those who yo-yo diet can never get back to their original weight.
There are two main ways to kill fat cells, through using ultrasound causing them to burst, or causing them to die through freezing them.

How is CoolSculpting different from the competition?

CoolSculpting is the original fat freezing device used to destroy fat cells. However, as it has risen to new levels of popularity, more and more machines have been launched onto the market touting their fat freezing capabilities.
CoolSculpting is FDA approved. This is key to proving its safety and efficacy. This is much superior to the standard CE mark seen on lots of machines. By being FDA approved, you know this has been tested in the most stringent, independent, scientific studies.
Freezing the fat evenly is also key to CoolSculpting’s success. It is the only device which has a 360 degree freezing applicators. This means the freezing process is even and uniformed. This also makes it more effective.
CoolSculptiung also has a patented technology called FreezeDetect. This is where the applicator is constantly regulating the temperature of the skin and fat to ensure it stays in a safe range. This reduces the risk of freeze burns which can cause anything from blistering to skin necrosis.

How many treatments will I need of Cryolipolisis?

Fat Freezing cycles are dependent on the individuality of the patient and their needs. Things to factor in on how many cycles are needed to cover the surface area, the amount of fat, the patient’s expectations and what they are wanting to achieve . This will all be discussed in a free consultation prior to treatment.

What does CoolSculpting feel like?

The applicator is placed on the area for treatment and the skin is vacuumed slightly up into the applicator head. This is when the cooling process starts and it can last up to 45 minutes depending on the treatment applicator used. After the treatment is complete, the applicator is removed, and the area is massaged to help stimulate blood circulation and start the breakdown process of the fat cells.

The results of CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting can destroy up to 25% of fat cells in the treated area and so you can see some fantastic results, reducing areas that simply won’t shift through diet and exercise. Results are seen as early as 6 weeks and continue up to 12 weeks for full results.
