Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Fibrin is a biological scaffold that forms in response to an injury anywhere in the body. When you have a cut or wound, fibrin produces a scaffold which platelets bind to. When they bind to this scaffold, they activate and release growth factors. Growth Factors are key to wound healing as they create new skin cells, collagen and blood vessels. We harness this power of fibrin by creating PRF and therefore restoring the skin.

What is Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Scientists have now developed a way to take blood, spin it in a centrifuge and then isolate the contents making Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Fibrin. Mixing the PRP and Fibrin creates a platelet and white blood cell–rich fibrin scaffold called Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF).
The PRF can be used to fill in facial folds, cheeks, tear troughs and treat the scalp for hair loss. PRF targets the same issues as PRP, but the growth factors from the platelets are released over time. This means that the results are improved and also have longer-term benefits.
Platelets in PRF survive for longer than those in PRP, and therefore promote faster healing. The growth factors also stimulate the stem cells which improves collagen and elastin in the skin.

At present, it is being used by dentists for implants and orthopaedic surgeons for bone healing. PRF is a completely natural treatment with no risk of allergies.
