Ultherapy: Everything You Need to Know

Ultherapy: Everything You Need to Know

POSTED ON: 26th October 2017

With ageing, you start to notice that your skin becomes thinner and crepey, loss of facial fat and loss of collagen in the deeper tissues. As a result of this, the skin begins to look loose and starts to sag. In areas such as the face and neck, this laxity can often become noticeable fairly quickly. Genetic factors and life-style factors can also come into play when it comes to skin sagging, giving your face an aged look that may affect your self-confidence. Here at our

Health & Aesthetics skin clinic in Surrey, we understand that not everyone feels comfortable with a surgical option to address problematic areas, which is why we invest in the latest non-invasive technology.

We conduct Ultherapy in Surrey as a great non-surgical treatment in place of surgery. Ultherapy is also the only device of this type for non-invasive and non-surgical lifts that has been FDA-approved, providing you with the assurance that the treatment has been thoroughly tested through multiple trials and is both safe and effective.

What is Ultherapy?

As a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment, Ultherapy helps to rejuvenate and tighten the skin for a more youthful look. It gently heats up the deep tissues below your skin through a handheld ultrasound device. Images of the deep tissue layers are shown on a screen, allowing the therapist to both view and accurately target the areas that need the treatment the most.

With the ultrasound energy precisely directed at the right depth, the production of new elastin and collagen is stimulated to aid in the tightening and rejuvenating processes of the skin. – Treatment takes about 90 minutes for a full-face treatment.

Why This Treatment is Used

There have been recent studies surrounding the heating of deeper tissues of the skin, showcasing how this method of treatment stimulates a great healing response that results in the production of both new elastin and collagen for long-lasting and tightening effects.

The targeted areas are the jawline, the brow, the neck, and the décolletage, are safely treated through micro-focused ultrasound technology (MFU-V). The combination of micro-focused ultrasound technology with high-resolution ultrasound imaging provides an in-depth view into your skin layers and tissues. Alongside clearly showing deep tissues, it also provides a view into blood vessels, bones, and surrounding areas of your body.

Ultrasound has been utilised in the medical field for over 50 years as a proven safe technology. Ultherapy technology has been conducted in over a million treatments around the world. It jump-starts the repairing process without damaging the skin’s surface, stimulating elastin and collagen in such a way that can help to reverse the signs of ageing.

Who Benefits from Ultherapy?

Anyone who has skin sagging in areas such as lax jawline and jowls, as well as the chest, neck and forehead can benefit from this treatment. Ultherapy is typically better suited for people in their late thirties and early forties with a mild to moderate degree of skin laxity. Should there be a very high degree of laxity and sagging of the skin, a surgical treatment is the most efficient way of achieving better results.

You can also see prolonged effects of previous cosmetic surgery through an Ultherapy treatment. All skin types benefit from Ultherapy with no risk of hyperpigmentation.

Myths and Concerns Surrounding Ultherapy

Similarly to other treatments, you may have some concerns about downtime, pain, and the treatment’s efficiency. At Health & Aesthetics, we want you to feel completely comfortable, so ask us any questions about any concerns you have or about any myths you may have heard about Ultherapy, such as the following:

Myth #1: The Treatment is Painful

Mild discomfort in the treated areas may occur, but pain relief is given before the treatment to ensure that you are comfortable and pain-free. Mild swelling and tenderness may also be experienced; however, you are expected to be able to resume your normal activities within 24 hours, avoiding strenuous exercise and activities.

You can proceed with your normal life straight away without risk of anyone noticing you’ve had the treatment, and redness for an hour or two can be experienced. But without incisions or needles, this can truly be a lunchtime lift.

Myth #2: There are Cheaper and Better Treatments

You may see cheaper alternatives being offered by other clinics, but these advertisements can be misleading. Although seemingly inexpensive, cheaper treatments often deliver fewer energy shots than we do at health + aesthetics. This provides results that aren’t as long-term, leading you to potentially spending more money in the long run.

Ultherapy is the only device to have US FDA Clearance and, here at health + aesthetics, we were the first clinic in Surrey and Hampshire to have it, giving us excellent skills in delivering the treatment.

Myth #3: The Treatment isn’t Effective

One treatment is typically sufficient, taking between four to eight weeks before you begin to see an improvement in your skin. Gradually, you will notice how your skin tightness improves and there is less sagging. Results can last between 18 to 24 months, but we recommend a maintenance treatment every 12 to 18 months.

Some people naturally produce more elastin and collagen than others, making it difficult to give you an exact prediction of how your skin will look. You can, however, expect to see the best, natural results around six to eight months after the treatment.

Myth #4: Everyone can have the Treatment

Ultherapy isn’t advised if you have Bell’s Palsy, metal plates and pins in your face, muscle weakness, eczema, acne, psoriasis, cold sores, or other skin diseases in the treatment areas. The treatment is also not conducted on pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Additionally, should you suffer from an immune or collagen disease, severe skin thinning, or extensive sun damage, you should avoid having Ultherapy. The treatment is also less effective in patients who are overweight or who have severe skin laxity.

Here at the Health & Aesthetics, your comfort and peace of mind come first, which is why we always make sure that you have all the information you need. Every treatment, including our Ultherapy in Surrey, is tailored to individual needs, and you can always discuss your concerns with us. Get in touch with us to book your appointment today!
