5 Things You Need to Know About Botox

Posted on 14th December 2017 by Dr Rekha Tailor

We’ve all heard of Botox, and you probably know a little about this popular procedure, but if you are considering undergoing this treatment, you may want to know more about it and what you can expect. Here’s 5 things you need to know about Botox.

There are a number of myths surrounding the treatment, so we feel that it is important to ensure that you are fully informed about Botox and that you have an accurate perception of it before choosing to undergo the procedure.

5 things botox

#1 – Botox WON’T Freeze Your Face

Thanks to the portrayal of the treatment in film and TV, many people believe that Botox will have a dramatic freezing effect on the face, stopping you from expressing emotion or even impacting your ability to smile.

Thankfully, this is just a myth. Botox works by being injected into selected facial muscles, rather than the whole face. This means that you will retain control over your face and your expressions while the Botox evens and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles.

#2 – Botox Can Be Used to Treat a Range of Medical Conditions

Botox is a fantastic treatment for cosmetic applications, but it can also be used to treat a range of medical conditions.

Excessive teeth grinding, migraines and excessive sweating can all be treated with Botox, making it the ultimate multitasker of the cosmetic world!

Read more about how Botox can be used to treat these conditions here.

#3 – The Treatment is Quick and Painless

One of the most appealing things about the Botox treatment is its simplicity. The treatment itself should only last 20-30 minutes and won’t cause much discomfort.

There is even little to no recovery time needed after the treatment, so you can get back to your routine as soon as you leave our clinic. The only thing we do advise is that you avoid exercise for 24 hours following your procedure.

#4 – The Results are Fantastic

After your treatment, you will notice the results very quickly. In fact, you will start to see the first effects around three days later, and the best results will occur around two weeks later.

The Botox will soften and rejuvenate the skin, giving a more youthful look. Most importantly, when administered by a professional, such as Dr Rekha Tailor of Health & Aesthetics, the results will look natural.

#5 –  A Preventative Treatment

Botox is not just for those of a mature age. Instead, it can be used almost as a preventative measure, tackling fine lines and wrinkles at a younger age before they start to deepen and become more established.

In fact, the treatment is becoming more popular with younger patients who wish to ensure that they keep their skin looking more youthful for longer.

If you are considering Botox, we know how important it is that you are fully informed about the treatment. At Health & Aesthetics, we are happy to answer any questions you may have about the procedure.
