About our Consultations

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a technique used to smooth the skin, improve its texture, reduce scarring and pigmentation and help with skin’s health and tone.

ZO Skin Health Stimulator Peel – This is a gentle peel perfect for those looking to refresh and rejuvenate their skin. The stimulator peel stimulates the cell turnover reducing fine lines and wrinkles and skin tone. This is considered a lunchtime peel and will leave you with a glowing and more rejuvenated skin.

ZO Skin Health Restorative Peel – This is a gentle peel suitable for those with sensitive, inflamed or rosacea skins. A suitable alternative for those who are sensitive to Glycolic Acid.

mesoestetic salicylic 10% peel – This is for oily and congested skin. Reduces pore size and evens out skin tone.

mesoestetic blemiderm peel – This peel is for acne and blemish prone skin reducing the appearance of blemishes

mesoestetic melanostop peel – This is a depigmentation peel that accelerates epidermal renewal to eliminate superficial melanin. Provides visible improvement in tone and luminosity.

Chemical peels work by penetrating the superficial layers of the skin to give a clearer, smoother, complexion with improved hydration and a youthful glow. We use combinations of lactic, glycolic and salicylic acids in these peels as well as trichloroacetic acid in our deep peels.

I have been coming to Health &. Aesthetics for several years. For anyone who wants to slow down the agent process, and have their skin looking the best it can be, I cannot recommend Dr Taylor and her aestheticians highly enough. They are extremely knowledgeable, professional and personable. The hydrofacials leave my skin looking and feeling fantastic. It’s so well worth it.

FAQs

What can be treated with a chemical peel?

Gentle exfoliative peels freshen the skin, while deep peels can smooth, tighten and correct skin problems. They can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:

  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Acne
  • Brown spots
  • Melasma
  • Oily skin
  • Acne scarring
  • Redness
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dry skin

We tailor peels to the individual, dependent on whether a gentle or more dramatic result is desired and on whether you can accommodate shedding of the skin or prefer a peel procedure to go unnoticed.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the results you desire and the current condition of the skin. We recommend that most patients have a course of peels if the peels are lighter as the results are cumulative. A Controlled Depth Peel can be done once a year.

What are exfoliative peels?

These gentle peels penetrate the superficial layers of the skin to give a clearer, smoother complexion with improved hydration and a youthful glow. One treatment will brighten the skin, but a course will reduce pigmentation, wrinkles, acne and breakouts. These treatments are easy to fit into daily life because there is usually only mild dryness after the procedure and no downtime.

We use combinations of lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids in these peels.

What are deep peels?

These stronger peels penetrate more deeply and can achieve dramatic results including skin tightening and reduction of sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines, open pores and scarring. Some visible peeling occurs for 3-7 days after the procedure.
We use trichloroacetic acid in these peels.

What is the ZO three step peel?

The ZO Stimulator peel from the ZO Range is different since there is not much downtime but the results are remarkable. The 3 Step Stimulator Peel has 3 Steps.

Step 1 – Salicyclic acid, Lactic acid and Trichloroacetic acid.

Then during

Step 2 your therapist applies 6% Retinol directly after the peel and then 6 hours later some more.

Step 3 – We apply a calming cream straight after the peel and then several times for 5 days after the peel.
This peel will improve all of the conditions discussed above.
