How does HydraGenesis work?

Both of these treatments have been known to aid in helping fine lines, wrinkles, evening texture, minimizing pores, and diminishing redness but one is working mostly on the surface of the skin, while the other is getting into the deeper layers and leaving a more lasting effect.

What else can I do?

Skincare is the best combination. ZO Skin Health by Dr Zein Obagi has some hero products specifically designed to treat specific issues such as rosacea and pigmentation.

What aftercare is required?

  • Immediately after treatment, there will be redness and swelling of the treatment area and this feels like mild sunburn.
  • Use SPF 50 and avoid sun exposure. This is essential to avoid the risk of hyperpigmentation or darker pigmentation.
  • Avoid hot baths, exercise, and heat treatments and treat the skin gently especially for the first 24 hours after treatment.

Will I be suitable for treatment?

Men and Women of all skin types can have this treatment done safely. The procedure can treat many skin conditions (see above) and give an improved, youthful appearance to the skin.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients need a course of 4-6 treatments.

Is HydraGenesis painful?

There is no pain associated with this treatment. Patients often describe the HydraGenesis treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. The laser provides a warming sensation to the skin similar to the sensation one feels when standing near a fire. There is no numbing required.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime with the HydraGenesis. At the most, there may be some mild redness to the skin that should resolve within an hour. Patients will be able to go back to work immediately after the treatment.

Rosacea is an exceptionally common condition of the skin whereby skin becomes flushed and red resulting in swelling. It can sometimes also cause breakouts and pustules in the affected area. This is due to excess sebum blocking pores which then becomes infected with P. Acnes bacteria. In some patients, around the nose, the skin can become thicker, swollen and purple called rhinophyma.
