Excel® V+ Rosacea & Thread Veins

Rosacea is an exceptionally common condition of the skin whereby skin becomes flushed and red resulting in swelling. It can sometimes also cause breakouts and pustules in the affected area. This is due to excess sebum blocking pores which then becomes infected with P. Acnes bacteria. In some patients, around the nose, the skin can become thicker, swollen and purple called rhinophyma. This is due to overgrowth and inflammation of the oil (sebaceous) glands in the skin.

What is Cutera Excel V+ Laser?

Rosacea laser treatment is performed with our FDA-approved Cutera V+ laser. The Excel V+ laser uses a high-power green laser in order to target blood vessels and pigment with abnormalities. The excel V+ laser treatment works through the targeted application of clinically proven laser wavelengths. We target these wavelengths to specific areas of skin concern and work to diminish uneven tone and stimulate rejuvenation.

The wide range of conditions that this treatment can address includes facial redness, Rosacea, port wine stains, leg veins, and venous lakes (purple lesions on the lips). Unlike some other lasers, there is no anesthesia required during the procedure, thanks to the automatic cooling technology, which produces continuous cooling throughout your treatment, maximising patient comfort.

How does the treatment work?

The excel V+ laser treatment works through the targeted application of clinically proven laser wavelengths. We target these wavelengths to specific areas of skin concern and work to diminish uneven tone and stimulate rejuvenation.

This allows the excel V+ to address skin imperfections and stimulate collagen regrowth by gently heating the upper dermis below the surface of the skin. This process smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles, while dilated veins and capillaries receive extra heat to reduce redness and promote an even complexion. Throughout the treatment, the laser safely zeros in on areas of concern, such as the blood vessels that are a hallmark of rosacea and spider veins, and destroys them while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

Will I be suitable for treatment?

Most people with vascular lesions will be suitable for treatment. You will need to attend for an assessment to check if you are suitable for treatment and how many sessions are needed. Any skin type (1-6) can be treated with this laser.

What are the side-effects?

The treatment is not painful and at most you may notice slight discomfort.

Depending upon your skin type (and the lesion we treat), there is redness and swelling in the treated area for up to 2-3 days after treatment. However, we can significantly reduce the swelling and enhance the healing by having Dermalux LED Light Therapy immediately after the laser treatment.

The treated area may also appear darker for 5-7 days after treatment but this will clear shortly afterwards.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Most areas of the body can be treated with the Excel V+ laser.

What else can I do?

Using ZO Skin Health by Dr Zein Obagi is essential for those wishing to combat rosacea. Rosacea is a sebum related disease and ZO Skin Health effectively controls this while restoring the skins healthy barrier function. This can combat and control the symptoms of Rosacea especially when using the hero product Rozatrol.

Dermalux LED Light therapy is excellent at controlling the inflammation of rosacea and can help to promote healing after a laser treatment.
