Treat acne since no matter what your age, acne can be a very distressing condition that can have a big impact on your confidence and quality of life resulting in depression and social anxiety.

Typically, it causes spots to develop on the face, chest and back which can cause scarring if left untreated.

Many, many people suffer from acne and not just when they are teenagers. There are two types of adult acne – persistent acne and late-onset acne. In fact, around 50% of women and 25% of men experience acne at some time in adulthood, ranging in severity from mild to severe.

This can be due to a number of factors including: a hormone imbalance, stress and possibly a poor diet.

However, you don’t need to suffer in silence as there are many very effective treatments to treat acne available at Health & Aesthetics.

The four key treatments to treat acne that we provide are:

Laser Treatment

Skin Peels

Dermalux LED Light Therapy and

Medical grade skincare products

Laser Treatment

Laser Skin Rejuvenation is a fast, safe and non-invasive procedure that is fantastic at treating a number of different skin conditions and acne is one of them.  The laser treatment gently kills off the acne bacteria and reduces the oil production in the skin, eliminating the spots and reducing the appearance of any scarring.  You will notice an improvement after just one treatment, however the benefits will increase with every treatment you have.

Skin Peels

Skin Peels (also known as Dermal or Chemical Peels) are highly effective at improving the appearance of acne.  They work by carefully exfoliating the surface layers of the skin to stimulate the production of healthy, new skin cells, which in turn create a clearer, brighter complexion.  Acid peels can also help to cleanse the pores and kill off the acne bacteria.

At Health & Aesthetics we offer a range of different peels to suit your individual needs.  They are a pleasant, relaxing experience (not painful at all), that achieve great results – although we usually recommend a course of treatment to see maximum improvements.

Dermalux LED Light Therapy

Another treatment we offer that is highly effective at destroying acne bacteria and normalizing oil production in the skin is Dermalux LED Light Therapy. Gentle and non-invasive, it uses light energy to rejuvenate and repair the skin safely with no irritation and no downtime.

People often say that their skin looks better immediately after being exposed to sunlight and the same principle applies here – yet without the damaging UV rays.  Used alone, or in conjunction with other treatments, light therapy can treat acne, soothe and heal the skin, reducing active acne and helping to prevent future breakouts.

Medical Grade Skincare

Last but not least, we also offer the highly acclaimed ZO Medical range of skincare products. These have been created by renowned skin expert, Dr Zein Obagi, who has been developing skincare solutions for over 35 years.  Designed from a medical perspective, they contain powerful active ingredients that are much more effective at treating the skin than off-the-shelf ranges.

ZO Medical products are only available from approved medical practices like Health & Aesthetics and we will be able to advise you on the products that best meet your skin’s specific needs. Over a period of time these products can help create dramatic improvements in your acne and the general appearance of your skin.

Botox treatment for smoother, healthy looking skin this spring.

The first few months of the year can be a bit flat – the evenings are dark, the weather’s cold and many of us feel we don’t look our best.  So when the first shoots of spring begin to appear and the days finally start to get a bit longer, we often feel the need for a bit of TLC: a boost to lift our confidence.

You may not have considered Botox® before.  Perhaps you have been put off by pictures of celebrities looking frozen and unnatural.  However, if administered precisely by a trained medical professional, like Dr Rekha Tailor, the results can be wonderfully natural.  Nobody will think you look ‘done’ which is many people’s fear.  Your skin will simply looker smoother, taut and healthy.

Allaying your fears of Botox treatment.

The treatment works by temporarily relaxing the muscles in the face and/or neck, which significantly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Common sites for Botox®treatment are between the brows, across the forehead and at the corners of the eyes.  However, it can also be used elsewhere, such as the jawline, neck and even to treat teeth grinding (also known as bruxism).

The procedure is simple, fast and not painful.  Botox® has been used in medicine for over 20 years to treat everything from neurological disorders to migraines and excess sweating, and it has an excellent safety record.

At Health & Aesthetics we use Allergen Botox® which is the most advanced product on the market.  The wrinkle relaxing injections are administered using an ultra-fine needle into precise points in the face so that only selected muscles are immobilised. This means that untreated facial muscles continue to contract in the normal way so that facial expressions are unaffected.

Would Botox work for me?

Botox® treatment is suitable for almost everyone and a typical procedure takes around 20 minutes.  You may notice some slight redness around the treated site but this will fade quickly.  Most people see noticeable results after about five days and these last for around 3-4 months.

Clinical studies have indicated that repeat treatments last longer, meaning you should require fewer injections in the future. However, this varies from patient to patient.

What you can be sure of is that your skin will look beautifully refreshed.  ‘Less is more’ is our motto and we only believe in creating soft, natural looking results.

Botox is a very popular treatment at Health & Aesthetics.  It achieves excellent natural results for numerous people.
