Secret RF – The new skin hero treatment!

It’s not very often we see patients that have only one complaint about their skin. Many come to us with many issues including signs of aging, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, and textural irregularities. And it wasn’t until recently we would address these complaints with a myriad of treatments to suit. But no more! With the quickening pace of technology, we are now able to offer advanced treatments that offer an ‘all-in-one’ – notably the Secret RF.

What is the Secret RF?

The Secret RF brings together microneedling and radiofrequency in one. Secret RF delivers energy into varying levels of the skin including the deeper layers where treatment is most beneficial.

Suitable for all skin types (unlike similar devices) the ultrafine needles penetrate the skin and deliver the RF energy to the lower levels. This in turn stimulates and remodels collagen to revitalise and refresh.

How does it work?

The Secret RF ‘injects’ radiofrequency energy into the skin via lots of tiny needles, which also act as a collagen-stimulating micro-needling treatment themselves. Both are collagen stimulating in different ways. 

Microneedling creates a micro-trauma in the skin stimulating the healing response while radiofrequency uses heat to shrink wrap and tighten the skin. It can be used on the face, neck and body for skin tightening and contouring. 

What happens in a Secret RF treatment?

Firstly, numbing cream is applied to the area. After the area has become numb the handpiece is then applied to the skin, and using a foot pedal the needles are delivered at the desired depth and energy.

For skin tightening treatments the needles will be at the longer end to reach the dermis layer of the skin, whereas resurfacing the needles would be looking at shorter needle length as this would be aimed at the epidermis layer (outer layer).

While the full face and neck treatment takes around 20 minutes (not including numbing time), larger areas such as stretch marks may take longer.

What makes the Secret RF better?

The Secret RF has two advantages over its competitors.

1. The needle penetration is adjustable (from 0.5mm – 3.5mm) which makes it the most customisable dermal treatment on the market.
2. It provides both non-insulated or semi-insulated needs which enables it to treat a wide range of applications for all skin types and issues.

Are there any side effects?

With minor discomfort to the patient it has minimal downtime, between 24 and 72 hours, during which the skin takes on a slightly sunburnt appearance. Once this resolves your skin will be tighter, healthier and more youthful and you’ll see an improvement in texture and tighter pores too.
