There are many uses for Ultrasound wavelengths.
When we think of ultrasound, we automatically think of ultrasound scans carried out in a medical environment, i.e. hospitals. The use of ultrasound in aesthetics is still relatively new to the industry as there are few FDA approved machines, especially for lifting and tightening.
HIFU and Duplex ultrasound are the two main types of ultrasound used within aesthetic clinics.

Duplex ultrasound can be used to scan the skin to give insight to the skin’s hydration levels, skin density, collagen levels and to view placement of injectables.
HIFU is High intensity focused ultrasound that is used to stimulate collagen and elastin.
At Health and Aesthetics, it is no secret that we pride ourselves on providing FDA-approved treatments. We offer HIFU treatment in the form of our brand-new treatment – Sofwave.
Sofwave uses synchronized ultrasound parallel beams to coagulate tissue within the mid dermis to stimulate collagen production.
Seven parallel ultrasound beams are delivered in a uniformed fashion to induce high intensity thermal injury to the dermis layer, without causing thermal injury to the epidermis.
High intensity, high frequency energy induces fractional thermal injury; coagulating tissue in the mid dermis.
Sofwave creates fractional thermal injury between the temperature range of 60-70 degrees Celsius. This high temperature is required to achieve the sufficient collagen denaturalization needed to produce optimum results.

Tissue coagulation occurs when thermal injury is induced at temperatures of 62 – 100 degrees Celsius. The high temperature permanently damages collagen and elastin and over a period of 6 months the damaged collagen and elastin will be replaced with new collagen tissue. The results of the coagulation process lifts and tightens lax skin and improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
During the coagulation process the collagen and elastin will also be subjected to denaturing. Denaturing happens when thermal injury is between the temperatures of 45-62 degrees Celsius. This provides an instant lifting and tightening effect but over time the results will diminish, therefore tissue coagulation is required for long term results.
