Endolift aftercare: a comprehensive guide

Posted on 15th October 2024 by Dr Rekha Tailor

At Health & Aesthetics, we are dedicated to ensuring you get the very best results from your procedure, which is why following a comprehensive Endolift aftercare plan is essential. Below, we have discussed what to expect after Endolift treatment, and outlined important guidelines to follow to promote and smooth recovery and exceptional results.

What to expect post-Endolift

Endolift is a minimally invasive treatment designed to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. Compared to traditional lifting treatments such as facelift surgery or thread lifts, Endolift has very few side effects and requires little recovery time. But like any aesthetic procedure, you may experience some temporary side effects during recovery. Side effects could include:

  • Redness, swelling, and discomfort: These are common in the first few days post-treatment, typically lasting between 3-5 days.
  • Bruising: Bruising may develop within 72 hours and can last up to 14 days. Any bruising or redness can usually be concealed easily with makeup.
  • Numbness or altered sensation: It’s normal to experience temporary numbness or altered sensation in the treated area. Sensation usually returns within 12 hours but may take up to 12 weeks to completely normalise.

Endolift aftercare plan

To ensure optimal healing and results, it’s important to follow the aftercare instructions closely:

  • Return to normal activities: Most patients can return to their regular routines immediately following the procedure, but some activities should be avoided (see below).
  • Treat swelling: If experiencing swelling and/or redness, you could consider taking an antihistamine and using a cool compress. It’s also important to stay hydrated, and some people may consider a lymphatic massage to help reduce swelling and speed up recovery. If swelling persists or is causing concern, do not hesitate to get in touch with the clinic.
  • Use SPF: You should use a broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen for at least one week post-treatment to protect the area from UV rays while the skin is healing and swelling is subsiding. We recommend wearing SPF daily.
  • Attend your follow-up appointment: We highly recommend scheduling a review appointment one month and three months after your procedure to assess your progress and ensure you are healing well. If you have any concerns before this, you can contact the clinic at any time.

To be avoided post Endolift:

To ensure optimal recovery and results, we recommend avoiding the following:

  • Makeup: Refrain from applying makeup on or around the treated area for 24 hours. This is to avoid irritation and the chance of infection.
  • Exercise: You should avoid vigorous physical activity for 48 hours following treatment as this may increase swelling.
  • Heat treatments: Avoid saunas, steam rooms, or sunbeds for 1 week or until any swelling subsides.
  • Sun exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for 1 week or until swelling subsides. Always use SPF 50 when outdoors.
  • Acid-based cleansers: Refrain from using acid-based skincare products, such as those containing AHAs or BHAs, for 3 days after treatment.
  • Retinol or Vitamin A creams: Do not use topical retinol or Vitamin A creams for at least 1 week after treatment.
  • Facial treatments and chemical peels: Refrain from having any facial treatments or chemical peels for 2 weeks following your Endolift treatment.
